Onion Bhajis

Onion Bhajis/Fritters are all time favorite snack of India and a famous street food too. These babies are the magnified version of onion rings,crunchy outside and soft inside with an amazing taste of Indian spices. The taste elevate 100 times more when accompanied with national drink masala tea.



1 large onion

1 teaspoon red chili powder

1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds

salt as per your taste

oil to deep fry

1/4 cup water


Mix chickpea flour, red chili powder, fennel seeds and salt in a bowl.

Add water to bowl and mix.  Mixture should come together as lumpy but it shouldn’t be runny.

Cut onion in long thin slices and add in the chickpea flour mix and coat it properly.

Heat the oil to in a wok. Drop a small piece of batter into the oil to test. If it browns and floats, the oil is ready.

Add tablespoon of mixture in the hot oil with the help of tong and fry till golden brown.

Using a slotted spoon, remove them carefully and place on a paper towel to drain any excess oil.

Serve hot, with chutney or ketchup.
